Dr. Jess Miehe, DNP, RN, PHN, Associate Professor, is the Director of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program for the College for Women School of Nursing at 91ÖÆÆ¬³§. She is committed to advancing health equity through innovative nursing education, community partnerships, health policy, and accessible healthcare delivery.
Dr. Miehe's nursing experience includes critical care, community health, nursing leadership, policy, consulting, and academia. Prior to joining academia, she practiced as a critical care and float pool nurse at Allina Health, where she led quality improvement initiatives to reduce preventable hospital readmissions and improve care transitions.
In addition to her faculty leadership role, Dr. Miehe is the Founder and Executive Director of a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving healthcare access for underserved youth through school-based and community health services. Under her leadership, the organization has secured more than $3 million in grant funding and has expanded school-based healthcare services, workforce development programs, and health equity initiatives.
Dr. Miehe was appointed by Governor Tim Walz to serve on the Minnesota Board of Nursing and currently serves as the Board's president. She is also a founding board member of the Minnesota School-Based Health Alliance, where she advocates for sustainable, equitable school-based healthcare models across the state.
Her scholarship focuses on nursing education innovation, clinical judgment development, school-based health centers, workforce development, and health equity. She is co-author of the Nursing Student Clinical Judgment Learning and Evaluation Tool, a copyrighted educational resource designed to support clinical reasoning and NCLEX preparation. Her recent scholarly work includes publications and national presentations on clinical judgment, artificial intelligence in nursing education, and innovative partnerships to address school nursing workforce shortages.
